What Your Dental Insurance Plan Covers

Call your insurance company if you’re not sure what benefits are included in your dental plan. Every policy is a little different, but the framework is typically along these lines:

• Full coverage for preventive care.
• 80% coverage for minor restorations (with fillings being a common example).
• 50% coverage for major restorations and procedures (which may include dental crowns).
• No coverage for cosmetic dentistry and other elective treatments. (Exceptions may be made if the service in question has some kind of health benefit.)
